If you have an appreciation for historic guitars, but like the full sound and volume of a modern day guitar, then you may be interested in this very custom and unique guitar. I have some vintage instruments including an 1836 Lewis Panormo original, as well as an 1850 Karl August Glaesel guitar. I restored both of them and love the history behind them. I incorporated elements of those two guitars into this full size lattice braced classical guitar.
The bridge is inspired from the Panormo guitar, while the adjustable neck is patterned after the Glaesel guitar, and similar to several of the popular historic guitars. The fretboard also has a slight radius like the Glaesel which I think is a major enhancement over the typical flat neck on classical guitars. Being a classical player myself, my experience is that the fingering is easier with a little radius. I've had other accomplished players play this guitar and they were surprised to find out (after playing it) that the fretboard has a radius.
I've played and built classical guitars for many years, and I love making them and playing them. I built this guitar in 2010 and I've played it around the house over the years, but it is in brand new condition. With the lattice braced Lutz spruce top and flamed maple sides and back it responds with strong warm tone and deep bass.
The sides and back are flamed maple, and the neck is Spanish cedar. The fretboard is ebony, and it has high quality Schaller tuners. This instrument is professional in every detail. If you've played or owned fine instruments in the past, you'll be happy to have this in your hands. If you're ready to move up to a fine instrument, this will suit you well.
This is a one-of-a-kind luthier built instrument. The string scale length is 644 mm, width at nut is 52 mm. Of course it has a bone nut and saddle. I use no molds in my guitar building process. The sides are bent perfectly and are glued in place with tentellones without any pressure forcing them into position. This allows the wood to freely resonate with no unnatural strain or stress placed on it. The whole instrument vibrates and resonates as one unit, allowing it to respond in full natural volume and tone.
